For more than 30 years, Wee Care Day Care has provided an enriched learning experience helping children to build a solid educational and social foundation – with all the fun of childhood mixed in. We are located in the south wing of the EvUCC facility and offer all day care for children ages 6 weeks to kindergarten. We include a structured, well-balanced Preschool learning program each morning for the toddler through Pre-K classes, followed by lunch, a rest, and an afternoon of more fun, learning activities. Celebrating our 50TH YEAR! - Peppermint Preschool is the Highland Community’s cornerstone Preschool Program. We are located in the west wing of the EvUCC facility and we provide a nurturing, educational environment for 3-5 year old’s through our half day Preschool programs. Our talented teachers focus on school readiness, social, emotional and intellectual development and what every child needs – love and care! Our entire facility is licensed by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). Hot, healthy lunches from our kitchen are provided for the children who attend our all-day Wee Care program. We offer a secured facility, accessible by personal security codes, as well as an indoor/outdoor recording camera system to keep our children and families safe. All staff are CPR and First Aid trained as well as professionally background checked. All staff regularly attend professional development training to stay updated on the latest and greatest information concerning children, families, health, and educational needs.
We have had three boys who attend Wee Care, so we have experienced every classroom and teacher from infants room thru pre-k. There cannot be enough said. The child care, education, nutrition, and social skills they get is impressive. Being able to drop your kids off for the day and having 100% confidence that not only are they safe, but they are learning and growing is priceless. The communication between staff and parents and the teachers abilities to address our kids specific needs or areas of development has been very beneficial to our family as a whole. We are all on the same page with goals and achieving those goals. The boys themselves really enjoy going to daycare as well. The friends they have made, the activities and play they get to do keeps them excited. We have been amazed at how much they learn and how well they are cared for.

Peppermint Preschool is the perfect place to begin your child’s academic career. We have had two children enrolled the last 4 years, both starting in Ms. Tara’s 3’s class and then progressing into Ms. Karen’s Almost Kindergarten (AK) program. Their first years were filled with lots of social interaction, learning how to be in structured group settings, and building a strong foundation to propel them into the world of reading and writing. They were loved, cared for, and respected each day— given encouragement and praise that built up their self-esteem. All of that continued into their AK journey as 4-year-olds, but with a deeper focus on academics. Our daughter was already beginning to read on her own by the end of that year! The preparedness for kindergarten is unmatched. Don’t hesitate to send your children here to have the best introduction to their school years!

Our oldest started at Wee Care Day Care right at 1 year old. Coming from an in-home daycare, we were worried about all the typical transitions that might accompany such a big change, but we were quickly shown how caring each and every one of the staff are at Wee Care. A year or two later, our 12 week old joined Wee Care. On top of caring for our children, the teachers have worked alongside us, as parents, to help problem solve and get through some of those rough/tricky times that ultimately come along with having little ones, in general. They continue to go above and beyond our expectation and never fail to treat our kids like their own. As our boys are getting older, we are continuously shown that these trends are the core value of Wee Care. We thank our lucky stars daily that our boys are part of the Wee Care family!
